KANSAS CITY — Companies are expanding their existing portfolios with new sweet snacks.

Mochi brand My/Mochi is moving into new categories beyond mochi with the introduction of waffle bites, which are made with the sweet rice flour traditionally used in mochi. The ready-to-eat waffles can be thawed or heated in the microwave and are available in original, blueberry and cinnamon flavors.

“MyMochi has been at the forefront of merging Japanese heritage with snacking culture,” said Brigette Wolf, chief marketing officer at MyMochi. “MyMochi fans are always looking for more ways to snack on mochi and using it to put a fun twist on everyday food like waffles enables us to introduce even more people to the unique mochi experience.”

Better-for-you Mexican American brand Siete Foods debuted its latest grain-free cookies, chocolate chip with Mexican vanilla and fresas con crema (strawberries and cream). The cookies, which are available in a resealable package, are gluten-free, grain-free, soy-free, vegan and are made with coconut sugar, avocado and coconut oil.

General Mills, Inc. is adding to its cereal brands with two new products: Dessert Taco Shells from its Old El Paso brand and a new Loaded line across its Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Trix and Cocoa Puffs brands.

The new Dessert Taco Shells “feature the crunch fans love from Old El Paso, now blasted with Cinnamon Toast Crunch’s iconic Cinnadust for an unbeatable treat,” while the Loaded cereal line features “puffed-up larger-than-life squares” of General Mills’ Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Trix and Cocoa Puffs cereals filled with vanilla crème, according to the company.
